Many of our artists were accepted into the 2016 Indiana Plein Air Painters Association Member Exhibition. Members of IPAPA participate in numerous paint out events during the year. At the culmination of the plein air painting season, members gather to show their work and celebrate with fellow artists and patrons.
The following Brown County Art Gallery Artists participated:
Kathy Blankenheim, Rhonda Bontrager, Eric Brock, Wayne Campbell (Third Place), Steve Dawson (Award of Merit), Beth Forst, Tricia Hillenburg, Thomas Himsel, Troy Kilgore (Merit Award), Wyatt LeGrand, Ronald Mack (Award of Merit), Nancy Maxwell, Chris Newlund (First Place), Thom C. Robinson, Larry Rudolech (Best of Show), Rick D. Wilson (Merit Award)
Rick D. Wilson will open his solo show, "The Nature of Art - Painted Parks," at the Brown County Art Gallery on December 1st. This exhibition is an official Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project celebrating Indiana's Bicentennial and the great diversity our 24 state parks have to offer. It also celebrates the 100 year anniversary of the state park system in Indiana.
It features 70 paintings of Indiana's state parks, reservoirs, and fish and wildlife areas, as well as a PBS-style documentary and exhibition catalog.
The exhibition opened May 22, 2016 at the Richmond Art Museum in Richmond, Indiana to much success. Over 200 people were in attendance, and sales toppled records for an exhibition at RAM.
